What I do

I am specialized in making digital products such as websites and apps easy to use. For example, I can analyze the usability of an existing product and, if desired, design a new user interface. This field is also called User Experience or UX. My main services:

• Strategy: find out the information needs and make a project plan. E.g. DesignOps, service design, stakeholder management, UX team management.

• Interaction design: designing the user interface (mobile, tablet, desktop). E.g. wireframing, UI design, prototyping, information architecture.

• User research: analyzing the user group and testing the usability of a product. E.g. usability studies, customer journeys, field studies, analytics.

Way of working

In agile projects I closely work together with the stakeholders, product owners and scrum teams who are building the system. I'm a strong advocate of User Centered Design which means frequently getting feedback from end users (for instance through a usability test) to check if the user experience is still 'on track'. Besides UX, I always focus on the business goals of a system and the technical feasability because all these factors have to be balanced to achieve success.

Experience

I have more than 20 years experience in the UX field. While getting my master's degrees in Medical Information Science and Psychology at the University of Amsterdam, I worked as an interaction designer and usability specialist for Microsoft and TNO and later I was Lead User Experience for CGI for 3 years. By now I have worked in many different industries including finance, government, healthcare, education and transport. See also my Portfolio.
